Bianca Umali bounces back after health scare at start of 2026

Bianca Umali had a rough start to the year after having a health scare that she said stopped her in her tracks, reminding her why it’s important to take care of one’s health.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Friday, January 16, Umali opened up about having to deal with health issues at the beginning of 2026, although she didn’t go into full detail about the sickness we powered through.
The Kapuso actress said that she has been “doing better” since then and is “slowly getting back into the groove.”
“This is how my 2026 started, with health scares that stopped me in my tracks and quietly opened my eyes in ways nothing else ever could. It made me pause, reflect, and look at life a little differently moving forward,” she said.
“I won’t go into full detail — not because it isn’t important, but because some things are personal, and I know it might be uncomfortable for others too. What is important is this: I am well. I am better. And I’m slowly getting back into the groove,” she continued.

Reflecting on herself, Umali admitted that she is a workaholic who “pushes through and keeps going even when the body is quietly asking for rest,” and her health scares reminded her of how much things have weighed upon her.
“I am reminded by how easily we take our health for granted… I also became more aware of how much I had been carrying — the pace I was moving at, the demands of the work, and the quiet weight of responsibilities and personal things I don’t often talk about,” she said.
“Little by little, they caught up with me, even in ways I didn’t immediately notice. Over time, that became a big factor in my health decline that even coping has become more difficult and have affected my eating habits,” she further shared.
Moving forward, the “Sang’gre” star vowed to take care of herself more and rest, especially when it’s her body telling her to do so. “Healing taught me that rest is not weakness, listening to your body is not laziness, and choosing yourself is not selfish.”
“So this year, I’m making a promise to myself: I will take good care of my health. I will listen sooner. I will slow down when needed. And I will remember that health should always be at the top of all priorities,” she said. “To anyone reading this — please take care of yourself too. Check in. Rest when your body asks you to. Choose what nourishes you.”
The Kapuso star received well-wishes from her followers in the comments, including fellow celebrities Carla Abellana, Chynna Ortaleza, Shaira Diaz, and Ogie Diaz, with many reminding her to prioritize her own well-being.

Umali is the lead star of “Sang’gre,” where she stars as Terra. Joining her as the eponymous Sang’gres are Kelvin Miranda, Faith Da Silva, and Angel Guardian.
Set years after the events of the 2016 “Encantadia,” Terra grew up in the moral world, unaware that she is the long-lost daughter of Sang’gre Danaya. /edv
