Claudine Barretto reveals anorexia relapse, postpones big event with fans

Claudine Barretto shared that she had an anorexia relapse, which was the reason she had to postpone a big event with her fans. 

Barretto took to her Facebook page on Tuesday, Dec. 16, to disclose her battle with anorexia, a condition that she hadn’t shared before, as she assured her fans that “we will get through this relapse like before.” 

“Dec. 16 & 17 were supposed to be a big day for the #Claudinians, but due to my relapse from anorexia [teary-eyed emoji], we have decided to postpone our big get-together & move this to February. I promise it will be worth it. Know that I love you all and we will get through this relapse like before,” she captioned her post alongside an old video of her singing Pasko Na Sinta Ko. 

According to Mayo Clinic, anorexia is an eating disorder in which people have a very low body weight, an intense fear of gaining weight, and a flawed perception of their body. It causes changes in the brain due to very poor nutrition.

In 2023, Barretto shared that she lost 84 pounds (38 kilograms) in two months because of Intermittent Fasting (IF), a dietary method that alternates between periods of eating and fasting.

Last August, Barretto also revealed that she was hospitalized amid a bout of depression as she asked the public for their understanding.

The actress recently made headlines after she posted a series of cryptic posts to express her heartbreak and fury amid rumors that she and her new beau, Milano Sanchez, have parted ways.

The pair was rumored to be in a relationship last October after they posted photos of them being affectionate with each other on their respective Instagram pages. /edv
