Filipino-American Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel drew attention online after speaking multiple languages while hosting the national costume segment of the Miss Universe 2025 preliminaries.
Gabriel shared a video compilation of her multilingual moments on social media on Thursday, Nov. 20, highlighting clips of her shifting between Filipino, Spanish and Thai during the live show.
She captioned the post with the phrases “Get you a bilingual baddie” and “When you put ‘multilingual’ in your resume.”
Gabriel delighted Filipino viewers in particular when she slipped in familiar phrases onstage, greeting audiences with lines such as “Kita tayo mamaya!” (Let’s see each other later) and “Masaya po ang lahat?” (Is everyone happy?).

The Filipino beauty queen earlier said she has been studying Filipino, the native language of her father, to better connect with her heritage.
Gabriel, who made history in 2022 as the first Filipino-American to win the Miss Universe crown, has since taken on various roles within the pageant, including hosting duties in this year’s competition in Bangkok, Thailand.
During her spiel in the swimsuit competition on Friday, Gabriel once again showed off her multilingual skills as she spoke Spanish alongside her co-host Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres after it was announced that Puerto Rico will be the host country for the 2026 edition of the pageant.
Meanwhile, the Philippines’ Ahtisa Manalo has made it to the Top 5 of the competition, vying to secure the country’s fifth Miss Universe title.
Reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjaer Theilvig will crown her successor at the end of today’s coronation. /ra
