Filipino Music Awards 2025: What can we expect from its inaugural affair

While it is up to the Filipino Music Awards (FMA) on who will emerge as the biggest artist of the year, 2025 has been a monumental year for Original Pilipino Music (OPM), with songs like “Multo,” “Naiilang,” and “kahel ng langit” taking the industry by storm, and artists creating their own mark, whether it’s in the Philippines or internationally.
Directed by Johnny Manahan and presented by Modern Media Group Inc., the biggest names in OPM will come together in the inaugural FMA, to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 21, which honors the artists, composers, music producers, creatives, and other notable individuals in the industry.
Here’s what you have to know about the star-studded award ceremony so far:
Big names tapped as hosts and presenters
The FMAs will be hosted by “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab” edition alum Michael Sager and Joey Mead King, who are expected to showcase their wit and charisma throughout the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Aiyana Perlas will be providing all the deets on the OPM stars arriving at the ceremony as the red carpet host.

Serving as presenters are Jericho Rosales, Lola Amour, Adie, Elijah Canlas, Dilaw, Angeline Quinto, KZ Tandingan, TJ Monterde, Joao Constancia, Dylan Menor, Michelle Dee, and ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.
Also tapped as presenters are Kevin Roy, Basti Artadi, Darren Espanto, Morissette Amon, Ely Buendia, Erik Santos, Kyla, Gloc-9, Jose Mari Chan, and Ashtine Olviga.
Show-stopping performances
Audiences can expect an array of captivating performances from P-pop powerhouses SB19 and BINI, while chart-topping bands such as Cup of Joe, IV of Spades, and Ben&Ben will bring in all the feels.

As Apl.de.Ap and Gloc-9 will bring in the party-ready vibes, Maki, BGYO, and Ely Buendia will steal hearts with their heartfelt stages.
On the other hand, Yeng Constantino, Lolita Carbon, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra will showcase the emotion that has long been beloved in Filipino music for generations.
Awards to be given out
With 20 plums across five major categories, the awardees will be decided by “an esteemed panel of judges” based on an artist’s cumulative success and artistic excellence.
The Grand Awards are divided into Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Concert of the Year, Music Company of the Year, Song of the Year, and Tour of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Genre Awards category is composed of Alternative Song of the Year, Folk Song of the Year, Pop Song of the Year, Rock Song of the Year, R&B Song of the Year, and Hip-Hop Song of the Year.
The public also has a chance to decide the winners for the People’s Choice Awards, namely, Artist, International Artist, and Song.
Earning the most nominations is SB19 with nine nods including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Concert of the Year. Coming in second is Cup of Joe with six recognitions.
