Historical biopic ‘Quezon’ sets global release in US, Australia, Middle East

“Quezon,” a historical biopic on former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon, starring Jericho Rosales and “Game of Thrones” actor Iain Glen, is set for global release in North America and other countries.
The film will screen internationally beginning on Oct. 30 in Australia and New Zealand, Oct. 31 in North America, Guam and Canada, and Nov. 20 in the Middle East, with additional territories to be announced.
TBA Studios said ABS-CBN International has secured exclusive theatrical distribution rights for key overseas markets.
“We’re thrilled that ‘Quezon’ will finally be seen by Filipinos around the world – and not just by the Filipino community, but also by fans of historical and political cinema,” said producer Daphne Chiu-Soon.
“This is a world-class production made for the big screen, and we’re proud to share this important story with a global audience,” added the producer.
Directed by Jerrold Tarog, “Quezon” paints a portrait of a leader who helped shape Philippine independence amid intense political rivalries and alliances leading up to the 1935 elections.
The film also explores Quezon’s clashes with American Governor-General Leonard Wood (played by Glen), Sergio Osmeña (Romnick Sarmenta) and Emilio Aguinaldo (Mon Confiado).
The cast includes Benjamin Alves as young Quezon, Karylle as Aurora Quezon, JC Santos, Jake Macapagal, Bodjie Pascua, Angeli Bayani, Jojit Lorenzo, Joross Gamboa, Therese Malvar, Ana Abad Santos, Ketchup Eusebio and Nico Locco.
The film marks the conclusion of TBA Studios’ historical “Bayaniverse” trilogy, following “Heneral Luna” (2015) and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” (2018), produced with support from the Film Development Council of the Philippines and CreatePHFilms. /ra
