‘It’s Showtime’ hosts don white outfits amid Filipinos’ fight vs corruption

After joining the Sept. 21 rally, the “It’s Showtime” hosts amplified their fight against corruption as they donned white outfits and ribbons on their wrists during the Monday episode of the show.
Led by mainstay hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Karylle, Jugs Jugueta, and Jhong Hilario, the group sported the symbolic attire.
They were joined by fellow hosts Ion Perez, Darren Espanto, Ogie Alcasid, Amy Perez, Jackie Gonzaga, MC, and guest host Shuvee Etrata.
In his closing spiel, Vice Ganda urged fellow Filipinos to continue the fight against corruption.
“Ituloy natin ang pakikibaka laban sa korapsyon! Kapamilya, ang kalaban natin ay korapsyon at ang mga tiwaling opisyal. Hindi ang isa’t isa. Mabuhay tayong lahat!” he said.
(Let’s continue the fight against corruption. Friends, our enemy is corruption and corrupt officials. Not each other. Long live all of us.)
Vice Ganda, Curtis, Espanto, Perez, and Navarro were among the celebrities who marched the streets during the Sept. 21 nationwide rally against corruption.
Vice Ganda delivered a powerful speech during the protest as he challenged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to fire the corrupt officials involved in the anomalous flood control projects.
“Para magkaroon ng magandang legasiya ang pangalan mo, ipakulong mo ang lahat ng magnanakaw. Nakatingin kami sa ‘yo Pangulong Marcos at inaasahan ka namin hindi dahil sa idol ka namin, kundi dahil sinuswelduhan ka namin at inaasahan namin na tutuparin mo ang inuutos naming mga employer mo,” said the comedian.
(For your name to have a good legacy, we dare you to put all the thieves in jail. We are looking at you, President Marcos, and we expect you not because you are our idol, but because we pay you and we expect you to do what we, your employers, tell you to do.)
Aside from their social media platforms, over the years, “It’s Showtime” stage became the avenue, especially for Vice Ganda to air his frustration and demand accountability from the government amid anomalies. /edv
