Vice Ganda gives ‘Showtime’ contestant plane ticket home as early Christmas gift

Christmas came early for an “It’s Showtime” contestant after show host Vice Ganda gifted him with a plane ticket so he can visit his home in Davao after 15 long years.
Ondo, a houseboy working in Las Piñas, was among the participants of the noontime show’s “Laro Laro Pick” segment on Monday, Sept. 15.
During his interview with show hosts Vice Ganda, Jhong Hilario and Vhong Navarro, Ondo shared how more than half of his monthly salary is allotted to support his three younger siblings who are residing in Davao and have no jobs to support themselves.

Vice Ganda then asked Ondo his Christmas wish, to which the latter responded, “Gusto ko makauwi ng Davao. Almost 15 years na akong hindi nakauwi doon sa amin.”
(I want to go home to Davao because I haven’t been able to visit for almost 15 years.)
The actor-comedian immediately granted Ondo’s wish and said he will pay for the latter’s plane ticket so he can return home this Christmas. Vice Ganda also promised to give him other gifts to make Ondo’s Christmas merrier.
“Ang tanging masasabi ko na lang talaga ay God bless you. Sana’y maraming magbukas na oportunidad para sa’yo para mabawasan ang bigat na pinapasan mo at ang hirap na hinaharap mo araw-araw,” the TV host told Ondo.
(All I can say is that may God bless you. I hope more opportunities will open for you to lessen the weight and hardship you face every day.)
Vice Ganda, who has also extended help to several “It’s Showtime” contestants in the past, earned praises for his generosity. The clip of his interview with Ondo has garnered over 4.5 million views and more than 156,000 Facebook reactions as of this writing. /ra
