Billy Crawford open to migrate, pursue a career in France one day
Billy Crawford is not closing his door to migrating to and pursuing a career in France someday following his historic win in the French version of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2022.
“Siguro one day (Maybe one day). Hindi sarado ‘yung pintuan ko (My door is not closed) to have a place I can call home as well outside the Philippines,” he told Boy Abunda in a recent guest appearance on “Fast Talk.”
However, despite being open to the idea of having a life outside the Philippines, Crawford emphasized that it is not possible for now as he intends to establish his family first, especially since his wife, Colleen Garcia, just gave birth to their second child.
“It was talked about. Pero sobrang mahirap i-plan out now pa lang for Coleen din kasi. Language barrier, culture shock, my so [Amari] right now is thriving in school, tapos si Austin he’s just born a few days back,” he explained. “So it’s tough if I make a selfish decision and say ito kasi ‘yung career ko. Let’s move here.”
Crawford gained a loyal fan base in France when he released his R&B single “Trackin” in 2002. After 20 years, the actor won the French version of “Dancing with the Stars,” making him the first Filipino to do so.
Last May, Crawford successfully staged his first-ever solo concert in Paris. In his show, the actor revisited songs marked by life-changing experiences, like his collaboration with Michael Jackson, which he said “has so profoundly influenced the artist he is today.”
Crawford is one of the coaches of the upcoming “The Voice Kids Philippines” Season 3, alongside Julie Anne San Jose, Zack Tabudlo, and Paolo and Miguel Benjamin of “Ben&Ben.”
“The Voice Kids Philippines” Season 3 premieres on GMA Network on Sept. 14. /ra
