Still Ghost Month

August may already be out, and already we are hearing Christmas songs being played, but in Chinese tradition, we are still in the middle of the so-called Ghost Month, which will run up to Sept. 21 when believers are cautioned against bad luck.

But August did not seem inauspicious at all for the industry.

For one, the Kapuso network as it kickstarted its merrymaking last month with a grand gala celebrating its 75th anniversary. As in previous years, this year’s gala brought together the network’s stalwarts and its newest stars, including the much-talked-about “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab” edition cast.

A week after, Regine Velasquez and Vice Ganda filled the Araneta Coliseum with the Super Divas concert graced by their friends in the industry. In attendance of course, were Meme’s new baby and current showbiz darling, Shuvee Etrata and her TDH Anthony Constantino along with her bestie Ashley Ortega with BF Mavy Legaspi. Meme’s favorite diva Klarisse de Guzman was a guest performer who sang along with the song bird. Incidentally, a segment of the concert became so controversial that it became a huge meme that went on for days and weeks.

Acer Day 2025 immediately followed with PBB’s Pamilya de Guzman, namely Klarise, Will Ashely, Shuvee, Ralph de Leon, Charile Fleming and Esnyr Ronollo in attendance. Along with SB19 who did a grand collab with Sarah Geronimo for ‘Umaaligid,’ the latest PBB hottest stars performed live at the MOA Arena.

Finally, the housemates of the PBB collab brought the Big Dome down with their own concert showcasing the talents and versatility of the joint Kapuso and Kapamilya talents.

Two prestigious award nights were also held in August. FAMAS 2025 gave Marian Rivera’s 3rd major acting award as Best Actress for her role in ‘Balota’ while Vice Ganda and Arjo Atayde shared the Best Actor Award for ‘And the Breadwinner Is’ and Topakk, respectively.

Meanwhile, the recently concluded 37th PMPC Star Awards for TV had Rhian Ramos and Joshua Garcia as best actress and actor for their iconic TV roles in 2023 for “Royal Blood” and “Unbreak My Heart,” which both aired on GMA.

Fickle-minded actress

Is this actress taken or is playing the guessing game in the love department?

She’s acknowledged to be the best actress of her generation, garnering good projects, citations and awards, ahead of her contemporaries.

This bubbly actress definitely can play diverse roles from kikay Gen Z to a caring ‘ate’ and reel heroine depicting Filipino lives to period, historical genres. Unlike her rivals who seem to be on vacation mode, this actress is busy as a bee from endorsements & product launches, to TV series & guestings, and a solo-starrer movie to this day.

Her latest team up with a debonaire guy was well-received with hopes for them to become a real-life tandem as their loyal fans would love it. Unfortunately, it seems it isn’t going this way, especially that they are currently doing solo assignments. The super friendly girl gets the tendency to be clingy not only to peers and colleagues but also to his leading men. Some disappointed fans even labeled her too flirty.

Notably, die-hard fans would love to see her end up with the nonchalant Actor A who seems to have never gone out of his way to invite her in casual events or escort her in important showbiz gatherings.

Meanwhile, there’s Actor B who seems to be serious in pursuing her and is always on the go and ready to support her in her many endeavors, even religiously joining her in her out-of-the biz activities. Unfortunately, Actor B isn’t the cup of tea of this actress’s most avid and loyal fans.

True and concerned friends of the actress can only pray and wish her well in the love department especially that she also came from an uncoupling game and isn’t getting younger as well. /edv
