KathReid? Kathryn Bernardo says no love team with James Reid

Kathryn Bernardo and James Reid‘s latest TV offering will not be the start of a love team, as the actress clarified that it would be more of a “professional partnership” with the actor-singer.

Bernardo told TV Patrol on Friday, August 29, that she decided to accept the project because she became attracted to the storyline, aside from the fact that this would be her and Reid’s comeback project.

“Out of all the stories that they have presented, parang ito ‘yung gusto kong gawin (this is what I wanted to do) kasi it’s not just a love story. It’s about friendship and family, and it’s about women,” she said. “It’s not a love team, more of partnership talaga because this is his comeback as well.”

This marks Reid’s teleserye comeback after nine years. His last TV project was the 2016 drama “Till I Met You,” which starred his ex-girlfriend and ex-onscreen partner Nadine Lustre.

The Dreamscape-helmed drama is also a comeback for Bernardo after “2 Good 2 Be True” in 2022, with her ex-boyfriend Daniel Padilla as her leading man.

Since Bernardo and Reid come from different love teams, the actress said she and the actor-singer have been adjusting to each other. She added that neither of them expected their partnership either.

“Si James, first time kong makausap for that long and makilala, so nagkakapaan pa kami but definitely, very excited din siya. We’ll start taping very, very soon, like next week,” she said.

“When we shot for our [promo] video and look test, parang grabe, who would’ve thought, diba na after ilang years? We’re both from different love teams and comeback niya rin. Tapos posible na talaga ngayon. It’s exciting, and it excites us,” she said.

(It’s my first time talking and knowing James for that long, so we’re still adjusting to each other. He’s definitely very excited. We’ll start taping very, very soon, like next week. When we shot for our promo video and look test, we were amazed. Who would’ve thought after so many years? We’re both from different love teams, and it is also his comeback. It’s really possible now. It’s exciting, and it excites us.)

Details on the drama’s title, storyline, cast members, and premiere date are yet to be announced, as of this writing. /edv
