Loonie and Arthur Nery joined forces in the collaborative single “Palaisipan,” which revolves around the “vagueness and confusion” of situationships.
According to Loonie and Arthur, they first met in last year’s iteration of the MYX Music Awards while working on a tribute segment for Gloc-9. After performing “Lando” together, they discovered that they’re fans of each other’s work, leading to teaming up for “Palaisipan.”
“I wanted to make a song about situationships, which I noticed are very common nowadays. I wanted it to encapsulate the feeling of vagueness and the confusion that comes with short-lived hookups and the mind games before, during, or even after the relationship,” Loonie said in an interview with the media.
“I presented the idea to Arthur, and by the time we were both in the studio, the words just spilled out of him like it was nothing,” he continued.
Since “Palaisipan” is different from Loonie’s usual hard-hitting tracks, he said it is part of his “evolution” as a songwriter, while adding that he always wanted to explore the confusion of situationships through music.
“Everybody at one point or another has experienced being confused in a relationship, either in the beginning stages where you’re still starting to know each other, or during the relationship where you don’t know what’s next, or even after the relationship is over. Overthinking and mind games are always on the menu,” he said.
“Palaisipan” was produced by Yung Bawal, containing elements from the hip-hop music of the 2000s. The original beat was supposed to be slower, which was eventually changed, as Arthur wanted to try something more “upbeat.”
The track’s official audio and music video were released on Friday, August 22.
