‘Les Miserables’ PH staging opens casting call for Little Cosette
The upcoming Manila run of “Les Miserables: World Tour Spectacular” is looking for little girls to bring the role of Young Cosette to life.
In a social media post on Tuesday, August 19, GMG Productions announced that they are looking for girls aged 9 to 10 who have a “sweet and youthful voice” and stand at least 137 cm (4’4″) tall for the role of Little Cosette.
The production company stated that applications must be submitted by adults with parental responsibility, saying, “If your child meets the criteria, is a confident performer and would like to be considered for the role, adults must apply on their behalf.”
The child actress chosen for the role will join the international touring cast in Manila from January to March as part of the production’s highly anticipated return.
Little Cosette is the daughter of Fantine, who eventually gets adopted by Jean Valjean after her mother dies. Cosette spends her childhood as a servant for the Thénardiers.
Interested applicants have until Sunday, August 24, to submit their video auditions through the official link provided by the company: bit.ly/LittleCosetteAuditions.
The upcoming production is described as an “epic reimagining” of the global hit. The musical was last staged in Manila in 2016.
“Les Miserables: World Tour Spectacular” will feature new set and lighting designs, enhanced staging, and an international company and crew of 110 expanded from “Les Misérables: The Staged Concert” in London’s West End.
Based on Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel, “Les Miserables” tells the story of ex-convict Jean Valjean, who struggles for redemption while being pursued by the relentless Inspector Javert.
A film adaptation starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne was released in 2012. The film won three Oscars including Best Supporting Actress (Hathaway), Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Sound Mixing out of eight nominations at the 85th Academy Awards.
The play and movie popularized the songs “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?” and “One Day More.”
Tickets for the 2026 Manila season of “Les Miserables: World Tour Spectacular” are currently on sale. /ra
