WATCH: Kai Montinola wows Ogie Alcasid in duet

Ogie Alcasid has nothing but praises for Kai Montinola after she effortlessly sang a duet with him of his OPM classic “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang.”

The “Pinoy Big Brother” alum visited the noontime program “It’s Showtime” on Wednesday, July 30, as one of the judges of the “Escort Mo, Show Mo” segment.

After she was introduced, Alcasid shared that she recently saw a video of Montinola’s “Pwede Ba” duet with singer Jeremy G. The OPM singer-songwriter, along with his co-hosts Jhong Hilario, Jackie Gonzaga and Darren Espanto, then asked Montinola for a “sample.”

“I have a request. Can I sing it with you, Sir Ogie?” Montinola said, but noted that she would instead like to sing “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang.”

Alcasid gamely granted her request, and couldn’t help but pause mid-performance to compliment the actress.

A clip of Alcasid and Montinola’s performance was shared on the noontime show’s Facebook page, and has so far garnered over 5.5 million views and more than 191,000 reactions.

Alcasid also shared the video of their performance on his Instagram page, saying she was surprised when Montinola chose his song for her sample.

“Her vocals were so amazing! As in,” he exclaimed.

“Thank you, Kai, for giving life to this old man’s old song and letting your fans hear my music. I was so blessed by it,” he added.

Montinola, in turn, expressed her gratitude to Alcasid via the comments section. “So glad that I was able to sing a classic with you po! Mabuhay ang OPM.” /edv
