Tiffany Young delighted her Filipino fans not just with a night filled with nostalgia and joy through her song performances but also as she addressed the possibility of a long-awaited Girls’ Generation world tour.
Young responded to a fan’s question about a possible world tour with her fellow members during her solo fan concert on Sunday, July 28, at the Samsung Hall in Taguig City. During the talk segment of her “Here with You” show, a Filipino fan shouted, “SNSD world tour in Manila, when?”
Young, who will be celebrating her 36th birthday on Aug. 1, shared that she would meet with her co-members next week and discuss it with them. Girls’ Generation is also set to mark their 18th group anniversary on Aug. 5.
“I’m always ready for a great time. I am seeing them next week, so I will ask them. As you all know, I’m a part of Girls’ Generation, but I’m not part of SM,” she said, referring to her former agency. She is now signed with a new management agency, Sublime.
Young debuted in 2007 as a member of Girls’ Generation under SM Entertainment. She and co-members Seohyun and Sooyoung left the company in 2017 to focus on their solo careers, but continued to participate in the group’s activities.
Meanwhile, members Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Yoona and Sunny continue to be signed with SM Entertainment, which manages both their solo and group activities.
Young’s remarks were met with excitement from fans, many of whom continue to hope for a group reunion onstage. Girls’ Generation’s last world tour was in 2016, the “Phantasia” tour, which did not include a Manila stop.
Although the group visited Manila in 2013 and 2015 as among the performers for the Dream K-Pop Fantasy Concert and the Best of Best KPOP concert, respectively, they have not had a solo group staging in the country.
In terms of making music, Girls’ Generation last reunited in 2022 for their 15th anniversary, releasing the comeback album “Forever 1.”
Girls’ Generation, originally a nine-member group before Jessica Jung’s departure in 2014, rose to global fame with hits such as “Gee,” “Genie,” “Run Devil Run” and “The Boys.”
The Manila stop of “Here with You” marked Young’s return to her Filipino fans after more than five years.
The 35-year-old singer performed a mix of her solo tracks including the fan-favorite “I Just Wanna Dance,” along with a few cover songs and group tracks, including “Party,” and a ballad version of “Into the New World.”
Young’s “Here with You” show in Manila was organized by L Squared Studios. /ra
