After a long wait, the teaser for the final installment of “Stranger Things” was released earlier this week, showing a glimpse of the apocalyptic war that’s set to end Vecna’s wrath for good.
The teaser of “Stranger Things” season five was released on Netflix’s YouTube channel on Wednesday, July 16, as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) prepares to face off against Vecna despite being in hiding.
Also featured in the teaser are Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), to name a few.
At one point during the clip, Jim appeared to be encouraging Eleven, saying, “Let’s end this, kid.”
“The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown,” a part of its official synopsis read, which also touched on the mysterious disappearance of Will (Noah Schnapp) and the government’s hunt for Eleven.
“The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time,” it added.
The titles of season five’s episodes were also announced by the streaming service last November, namely, “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of…” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up.”
Neither the showrunners nor Netflix has yet to indicate which particular “vanishing” moment they were referring to in the second episode.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator Ross Duffer said season five was filmed for a year, where they gathered “over 650 hours” worth of footage. Meanwhile, co-creator Matt Duffer hinted that it was “super intense and emotional” to film, adding that it was the most personal season for him.
“Stranger Things” season five will be released in three parts: four episodes on November 26, three episodes on December 25, and the finale on December 31.
