IV of Spades reflects on unconditional love with surprise single ‘Aura’

IV of Spades is officially back—with no teasers or buildup in the days prior.
On Wednesday, July 16, IV of Spades dropped their surprise single “Aura,” their first track as a four-piece band after five years. Their last single as a complete unit was “Sariling Multo (Sa Panaginip).”
Also released on the same day was the track’s official music video, showing the band watching the sights, running, goofing around, and enjoying each other’s company on a grassy hilltop.
The IV of Spades and Brian Lotho-produced song explores “longing and unconditional love,” as well as defining what it means to be home. Meanwhile, the music video was directed and produced by LunchBox Productions.
Aside from dropping their first single in a long time, “Aura” marks the band’s first release under their new music label, Sony Music Philippines, and new management, Balcony Music Entertainment.
“Watching the music video, it feels almost surreal that these four exceptionally talented individuals are back together again. This release is a heartfelt gift to the passionate fans who have missed them dearly,” Sony Music Philippines general manager Roslyn Pineda said in a press statement.
“We believe ‘Aura’ will resonate deeply and bring tears of joy, reminding everyone of the unique magic that IV of Spades brings to the music scene,” she continued.
Many OPM artists expressed their shock and delight over the band’s reunion on social media, including Ebe Dancel, Ben&Ben, Janine Berdin, and Over October, to name a few.

IV of Spades was formed in 2014 and is known for their Manila Sound, alternative rock, and pop-funk-infused music. They are best known for their hit singles “Mundo” and “Come Inside Of My Heart.”
The four-piece act was active for four years until Unique departed to focus on his solo career. The band took a brief break and released the 2019 studio album “ClapClapClap!” and then the singles “Ang Pinagmulan” and “Sariling Multo (Sa Panaginip)” before going on hiatus in 2020. /cb
