Suzette Doctolero, who created the world of “Encantadia,” has expressed gratitude to viewers who embraced the story’s new direction following the backlash over the consecutive deaths of key characters in the latest installment of the show, “Sang’gre.”

Doctolero recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to stand by the narrative choice despite the criticism from the audience. “Seryoso ang war at invasion this time. May at stake. Patay kung patay. For the first time in 20 years, nagawa rin. Na totoong may namatay. Salamat sa mga nakaunawa. Avisala eshma!” she wrote.

(The war and invasion are serious this time. There is something at stake. Dead if dead. For the first time in 20 years, it was done. That someone actually died. Thank you to those who understood. Avisala eshma!)

As of this writing, there have been 14 deaths over 10 episodes in “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre.”

The recent deaths include Cassandra (portrayed by Michelle Dee), Lira (Mikee Quintos) and Mira (Kate Valdez), which caused viewers to lament about the show’s new storyline.

“Killing Lira and Mira was the biggest injustice Encantadia ever committed. Of all the choices made in Encantadia, ending Lira and Mira’s story was the most unforgivable! Lira and Mira were the last straw you could have to gain audience from the 2016 viewers, yet you erased them,” wrote one netizen.

“To be honest, wiping out all the OG characters, is not the issue here […] You could’ve written them off with flying colors. Their unjustifiable and questionable deaths are what we are so furious about. It’s like killing off main characters from the MCU without a meaningful reason just so we can appreciate the coming ones,” said another viewer.
