Gela Atayde graduates from DLSU: ‘Didn’t think I’d make it out alive’

Gela Atayde was ecstatic as she earned a communication degree from De La Salle University, dedicating her achievement to her parents Sylvia Sanchez and Art Atayde.
The actress-dancer, 23, celebrated the milestone by showing snaps from her graduation photoshoot through her Instagram page on Wednesday, June 25.
Gela was apparently unable to attend the graduation ceremony due to a pre-booked London trip with her family.
“Didn’t think I’d make it out alive, but we outtie,” she said in the caption while thanking her family and professors for their support.
“Balancing college with showbiz wasn’t easy, especially as a regular student with no special passes for absences or being late. And since my course is directly tied to my job, there was always added pressure,” she admitted.
Gela also underscored her gratitude for having the opportunity to learn both in the classroom and on the field.
“I’m thankful for my professors who guided me, especially those who truly understood where I was coming from and the struggle of figuring it all out along the way,” she continued.
“There were so many moments I wanted to give up, but I kept going, not just for myself, but because I know it’s almost every parent’s dream to see their child graduate,” she added.
Addressing her actress-mom and her dad, Gela wrote, “This one’s for you. Thank you, and congratulations to us.”

Gela, who competed and won in the 2023 World Hip Hop Dance Championship as part of the Legit Status crew, previously hosted the 2025 dance reality show “Time to Dance.” She also starred in the TV series “Senior High” and its sequel “High Street.” /ra
