Blackpink’s Jisoo and Park Jeong-min will portray a couple braving a zombie apocalypse to reunite with each other in the upcoming drama “Newtopia,” set for a February 2025 release.

Jisoo and Park’s casting was announced in a press statement from a Korean streaming platform, where they will portray Kang Young-joo and Lee Jae-yoon, respectively.

The series tells the story of Jae-yoon (Park), who is described as someone who started his military enlistment at a later age, which led to him having doubts about his future. Being apart from his girlfriend Young-joo (Jisoo) led to them ending their relationship after an argument.

As a zombie apocalypse ravages their town, Jae-yoon is appointed as the leader of his squad while Young-joo adapts to its effects to survive. But they find themselves in a race to beat the odds to be together again.

Jisoo debuted as the visual and lead vocalist of Blackpink in August 2016 and made her debut as a solo artist seven years later. She started her acting career as a cameo in “The Producers” and took on the lead role in “Snowdrop” in 2015 and 2021, respectively.

Aside from “Newtopia,” the singer-actress will star in the upcoming film “The Prophet: Omniscient Reader” in 2025.

Meanwhile, Park is primarily known as a film actor in South Korea, and has appeared in “Bleak Night,” “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet,” “Deliver Us from Evil,” and “Smugglers.” He is also the writer of the book, “A Useful Person.”
