Barry Keoghan calls for respect amid split rumors with Sabrina Carpenter
Barry Keoghan broke his silence regarding allegations of him being unfaithful to Sabrina Carpenter as he stressed that his name was “dragged across the internet.” However, he didn’t clarify if he and the Carpenter had indeed broken up.
Keoghan and Carpenter’s relationship made headlines after the actor was accused of being unfaithful to the singer-songwriter last November, with reports claiming that the Irish actor was cheating on the “Espresso” hitmaker with TikTok influencer Brekkie Hill.
The “Saltburn” star has since deactivated his Instagram following the reports, while Carpenter maintained her silence.
Days later, Keoghan took to his X (formerly Twitter) page on Sunday, December 8 to call for respect after “too many lines have been crossed” without directly mentioning his relationship with the former Disney star.
“I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond [to]. I have to respond now because it’s gettin to a place where there are too many lines being crossed. I deactivated my [Instagram] account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work,” he said.

The actor claimed that he received messages containing “absolute lies, hatred, and disgusting commentary” about his appearance and character.
“The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent, and every other inhumane thing you can imagine,” he said.
“Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.
Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also,” he further added.
In his statement, Keoghan also shared that his grandmother and son have been dragged into the controversy while reiterating how the hate had “crossed the line.”
“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy. I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail, and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me, and know I will have his back no matter what,” he said. “I need you to [remember] he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all.”
Carpenter and Keoghan’s split was first reported last August, with US media outlets stating that their relationship has been “on and off.”
The couple first met at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023 and were seen together in Los Angeles two months later. They eventually made their first appearance as a pair at a Grammys afterparty and have since been together on multiple occasions, with Keoghan starring in Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” music video.
