Nadine Lustre, Baron Geisler win acting plums at PMPC Star Awards for Movies

Nadine Lustre and Baron Geisler shone bright at the 2024 PMPC Star Awards for Movies as they took home the coveted Best Actress and Best Actor awards, respectively.

Lustre bagged the Best Actress trophy for her performance in the 2022 techno-horror film “Deleter,” while Geisler was recognized as Best Actor for his role in the 2022 tearjerker film “Doll House.”

Aside from the two, Dimples Romana was named Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 2022 drama film “My Father, Myself,” while Mon Confiado was hailed Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2022 suspense thriller film “Nanahimik Ang Gabi.”

On the other hand, the Noel Trinidad and Liza Lorena starrer 2022 drama film “Family Matters” and the 2022 historical action film “Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told,” starring Edu Manzano, Aljur Abrenica, and Paolo Gumabao, tied for Movie of the Year.

Both films’ directors, Nuel Naval and Lester Dimaranan, were named as Movie Directors of Year. 

Meanwhile, the Elijah Canlas starrer 2022 horror film “Livescream” won three production awards, including Carmela Danao for Indie Movie Production Designer of the Year, Fatima Nerikka Salim and Immanuel Verona for Indie Movie Sound Engineer of the Year, and Lawrence Ang for Indie Movie Editor of the Year.

Held this year at the Winford Hotel and Casino, Manila, on Sunday, Nov. 24, the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies is an annual award-giving body recognizing the country’s mainstream and independent movies.
