Rhian Ramos, Jane de Leon among nominees at Japan filmfest
Filipina actresses Jane de Leon and Rhian Ramos are among the nominees at the 2024 Ima Wa Ima Asian Film Festival Entertainment Awards.
The awarding body recently unveiled the list of nominees on their Facebook page. De Leon was nominated for Best Actress in the suspense-thriller-horror category for her role in “Shake, Rattle, & Roll Extreme.”
On the other hand, Ramos was nominated for Best Performance in a featured role for her performance in the historical drama “Pulang Araw,” although she was one of the nominees that came from the Philippines in the same category.
Aside from Ramos, Filipino actresses Ynez Veneracion and Ritz Azul have also been nominated for their roles in “Creepy Shorts” and “Kontradiksyon,” respectively. The three women are competing against South Korea’s Son Yung Kuk, Japan’s Adone Kudo, and Singapore’s Tasha Low.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, Alfred Vargas and Will Devaughn represented the Philippines in the Best Actor drama full-length category, as they were nominated for their roles in “Pieta” and “Coronaphobia,” respectively.
Both actors are up against Vietnam’s Tuan Tran, Indonesia’s Nicolas Saputra, and Thailand’s Ananda Everingham.
Meanwhile, South Korean actor Kim Ji Soo, who recently signed a contract with GMA Sparkle Artist Center, has been nominated for Outstanding International Actor for his role in “Abot Kamay na Pangarap.”
Actress host Toni Gonzaga and actress comedian Kiray Celis also received nominations from the awarding body. Although the art card didn’t specify for what category.
The Ima Wa Ima Asian International is an annual prestigious award in Osaka, Japan, that recognizes cinematic achievements in Asian film, TV, and new media.
The awarding ceremony will take place on Dec. 1, 2024, at Sumiyoshi Main Hall in Osaka, Japan
