Kyline Alcantara and Kate Valdez, who are both facing their respective dating rumors, were teased about the reason why they are happy on set and how their feelings affect their acting dynamics as kontrabida (antagonist) and bida (protagonist), respectively, in the upcoming series “Shining Inheritance.”

During the series’ media conference on Friday, Aug. 30, Valdez, who recently sparked dating rumors with Japanese vlogger Fumiya Sankai, gave a confident “yes” when asked if she’s in love, and went on to discuss how important feelings are in acting.

“Importante po ‘yon para maganda ang trabaho kasi kapag bad mood hindi makakapagdeliver ng maayos. Pero for me, kahit ano naman po nararamdaman mo at the moment malungkot man, galit, frustrated, masaya, inspired, parang magic nga po kasi nagagamit mo siya sa kahit anong eksenang kukunan. It really helps sa craft,” she explained.

(That’s important for you to be able to do your work well because when you’re in a bad mood you can’t deliver properly. But for me, no matter how you feel at any moment, whether you’re sad, angry, frustrated, happy, inspired, it’s like magic that you can use them in any scene you shoot.)

Valdez will be playing Inna Villarazon, the protagonist in the story.

Meanwhile, Alcantara, who remained tight-lipped about her dating status with basketball player Kobe Paras, echoed her co-star’s sentiments, as she takes on the role of antagonist Joanna De La Costa.

“Sa set, we’re all professionals; lahat po ng baggage na dinadala namin na personal (all the personal baggage we bring), iba na po dapat kapag nasa set na (it should be different when on set). Dapat focus na po sa character, sa proyekto na ginagawa (The focus should be on the character, on the project being done),” she stated.

Alcantara, who’s also been at the center of controversy last year, shared that she can somehow relate to her character in “Shining Inheritance,” given that they are both “misjudged.”

“Well si Joanna hindi niya rin po kasi talaga pinapakita ‘yung weakness niya sa mga tao, well in my case, pinapakita ko rin naman po ‘yung strength and weakness ko because tao lang rin naman po ako, katulad ni Joanna tao lang rin naman po siya. In a way, nakaka-relate po ako sa kaniya pero hindi po sa mga parte na nanakit siya, syempre doon lang po sa misjudged syempre bilang artista hindi naman po maiiwasan ‘yon,” she declared.

(Joanna doesn’t really show her weakness to people; well, in my case I show both my strength and weakness because I’m just human. In a way I can relate to her, but not in the parts that she physically hurts people — of course, only in the misjudged parts; as an artist that cannot be avoided.)
