‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ stars Shin Mi-nah, Lee Sang-yi reunites in new rom-com

South Korean actors Shin Min-ah and Lee Sang-yi will once again join forces in the romantic comedy series “No Gain No Love,” three years after working together in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.”

Shin and Lee’s casting in the upcoming K-drama was announced in a press statement by a streaming platform, where they will be joined by Kim Young-dae and Han Ji-hyeon. “No Gain No Love” will premiere on August 26.

The romantic comedy revolves around Son Hae-young (Shin), a woman who is determined to change her luck after encountering “loss after loss.” Son is seeking a “ridiculous fake marriage” with convenience store employee Kim Ji-wook (Kim Young-dae) to turn her luck around. Meanwhile, Kim is the “local hero” who agreed on Son’s fake marriage to be promoted.

Lee Sang-yi will star as Bok Gyu-hyeon in “No Gain No Love.”

On the other hand, Lee stars as Bok Gyu-hyun, the CEO of the company where Son works. Han will take on the role of Nam Ja-yeon, a famous R-rated web novel writer who’s the roommate of Son.

The upcoming series will be directed by Kim Jung-sik, who’s best known for his work in “Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon” and “Work Later, Drink Now.” Meanwhile, “Her Private Life” scriptwriter Kim Hye-young was tapped to write the storyline.

It remains unknown if Shin and Lee’s characters would end up together. In “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” Lee starred as the second lead while Shin’s character ended up with Hong Du-sik, played by Kim Seon-ho.

“No Gain No Love” marks Shin’s return to K-dramas after two years. Her recent projects include the dramas “Our Blues” and “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” as well as the film “Our Season” and web series “Because I Want No Loss.”

Lee, on the other hand, is best known for his work in “My Demon,” “Bloodhounds,” and “Youth Of May.”
