Manila’s new heartthrob a doting grandson

the Philippines—and Manila’s latest heartthrob as Erik the Phantom—dedicates his every performance to his doting grandparents Didi and Papa. Inquirer strayed into his dressing room in Johannesburg earlier this year and found among the souvenirs that included fan mail, friend’s notes and presents…a teddy bear that Johann Kupferburger (company manager for the South African production team) said was a gift from Papa.

Jonathan is a doting star to the crew as well. Thumb-tacked to a bulletin board was a letter from him that said: “To Our Crew (The ‘Greatnesses’): You guys are our guardian angels on this production. Your backbreaking work that often happens (and could go unnoticed) is so appreciated and valued. I shudder to think what we would do without you all. From those high above the stage to those of you hiding all around the wings, performance after performance, you are such invaluable assets to this show.” Emmie G. Velarde
