Former Hello Venus member Yoo Ara revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo surgery to remove a malignant tumor, but assured fans that she’s trying to get better.

The K-pop star penned a lengthy post on her personal Instagram account, along with a photo of her looking up at the sky while standing on a green field.

Ara explained why she hasn’t been lately active in her career, given her health condition.

“[I’m writing this post] because it seems like many people think I really died or something. From a long time ago, I was often tired, and there were many times when my health and physical condition were really bad. While happening to undergo an examination, I found out that it was cancer,” read the English translation of her post.

The former girl group member underscored that she is now recovering from the surgery after struggling a lot while many people didn’t know what she was going through.

“I received the diagnosis that I needed surgery, so I underwent surgery to remove the malignant tumor and also took medication, and I am now resting. (Right now, I’m getting much better),” she said.

“Although there were people who knew, there were also many people who couldn’t get in touch with me and felt hurt, so I struggled a lot with heartache on my own,” added the Korean artist.

The 31-year-old actress-singer asserted that she plans to lessen stress and work and hopes everyone will understand her situation.

“I would be so grateful if my acquaintances and everyone who loves me would please understand. For this year at least, I plan to try to minimize stress and work hard on recovering my health,” she expressed.

“Everyone, please don’t get sick and always take good care of your health as well! P.S. You must have been very, very shocked, but I didn’t write this for you to worry. I just wanted to tell you that I’m doing well. Don’t worry too much, please,” concluded the singer.

Ara was also the female lead in the Japanese musical remake of “Moon Embracing the Sun,” as well as acted in “The Alchemist.”
