Awra Briguela explains her choice not to take hormone pills
Awra Briguela opened up about her personal choice not to have hormone treatments, as she wants to embrace both her “masculine and feminine” sides.
On Instagram, Briguela addressed the curiosity of some followers who asked about why she’s choosing not to have a transgender body.
“Since a lot of y’all are confused or curious why I chose to have this body of mine, it is definitely a choice, my choice. I have the option to take pills, HRTs, and such, but I chose not to,” said the young star, who prefers to use “she” and “her” as her pronouns.
The 20-year-old comedian underscored that no words could make her hate “her body” as she knows how to “embrace her flaws” while requesting everyone to still be “respectful and kind” about other people’s choices.
“[Because] I’m still loving the fact that I can freely express both my masculine and feminine sides, and if you think that your words can hurt me having this body, well, think again,” Briguela said.

Over the years, Briguela stood up against homophobic comments directed at her.
In 2023, she called out the netizens who were making harsh comments about her bikini photos, and comparing it with other female celebrities.
“Kaya hindi na ako nagamit ng Facebook, napakaraming perfect na akala mo ang popogi at ang gaganda nila,” she argued.
(That’s why I don’t use Facebook anymore because there are so many people acting like they’re perfect, as if they’re too handsome and pretty.)
“Just facts: unattractive men are the homophobic ones. I asked why? Maybe because they will never accept the truth. The truth [is] that I look good—great and better than they will ever be.” she lamented in a separate post at the time.
