Angeline Quinto regrets failure to join Traslacion 2024

Angeline Quinto, a known Black Nazarene devotee, expressed her regret at not being able to attend the anticipated return of Traslacion 2024 that took place last Tuesday, Jan. 9, after its three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
In an interview with TV Patrol, the singer-actress said it was her first time not being able to join the grand procession of the Black Nazarene since she became a devotee at seven years old.
“First time rin na nangyari na hindi ako nakasampa sa Mahal na Poong Nazareno. Medyo nalungkot lang ako nung nalaman ko sa mga kaibigan ko na nakabalik na pala siya ng simbahan. Kadalasan before nakakasampa kami ng mga 12 midnight or 1 a.m,” she shared.
(It was the first time that I wasn’t able to climb over the Black Nazarene. I was sad to know that the image was able to return to church quickly compared to before, when it would take until midnight for the procession to be over.)
Quinto’s devotion to the Black Nazarene is also shared by other celebrities such as Kiray Celis, Coco Martin, and McCoy de Leon, who were able to join the grand procession this year.
After her taping, Quinto went to attend the Thanksgiving mass the night after the procession with her current partner, Nonrev Daquina, and their friends.
The “Nanghihinayang” singer said that she feels glad to have a partner who shares and grew up with the same devotion as her.
“Kasi si Non dahil laking Sampaloc (Manila) rin siya so buong family niya devotee rin ng Nazareno at ayun naman rin ‘yung isa sa kinagulat ko natutuwa ako na pareho pala kami ng devotion,” she said.
(Non grew up in Sampaloc; he and his family are all devotees of the Black Nazarene, and I was amazed to learn that, but at the same time glad to know that we share the same devotion.)
The Traslacion 2024 recorded its fastest march in the feast’s history, as the procession was able to bring the image of the Black Nazarene from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church in just 15 hours.
