Comparisons are inevitable in show biz. And while flattered, teen star Eula Caballero admitted that she feels pressured about being seen by some as TV5’s answer to ABS-CBN’s Kathryn Bernardo or Julia Montes.

“Both Kath and Julia have come a very long way since their ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ days. How can I possibly measure up to them?” Eula said in a recent interview.

Good thing Eula gets much-needed confidence boosts from coworkers, such as Lorna Tolentino, who has commended the younger actress’ talent. They star in the new horror series, “Third Eye.”

Star-struck

Although she’s trailing her Kapamilya counterparts in terms of exposure, Eula’s resume is nothing to scoff at. At 18, she has three drama series (“The Sisters,” “Sa Ngalan Ng Ina” and “Nandito Ako”) and a movie (“Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”) under her belt.

Still, Eula—grand winner of talent search “Star Factor”—can’t help being star-struck when meeting industry luminaries. She recalled working with Maricel Soriano for the first time in “Yesterday.”

“She looks younger in person and was very humble and supportive of me,” Eula said. “She’s also incredible in dramatic scenes. Ang lalim ng pinaghuhugutan niya ng emotions. There were times when she would still tremble even after a scene had already ended.”

Self-confidence

As TV5 gears to expand its pool of stars via a new talent search, “Artista Academy,” does Eula feel anxious about competing with a slew of fresh faces?

“Not really,” she said. “It’s up to me to do even better in my projects, and continue growing as an artist.”

Confidence is the key, she stressed. And this goes out to all celebrity hopefuls.

“You can’t be good at everything, but confidence will make the seemingly impossible doable,” said Eula, who looks up to Bea Alonzo as her idol.
