Singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre prefers to classify significant events in her life according to seasons.

She said that from the time she began writing her second album, “Patawad,” up to when it was released, she experienced autumn and winter. “Now, it’s springtime,” she recently told Inquirer Entertainment as a way to describe her current emotional state, as well as the next album that she hinted on her Instagram account would be out “real soon.”

“To be honest, I actually didn’t want to classify this album as spring because it’s such a raw, vulnerable and honest album,” she began. “When you think of spring, you kind of picture walking in Central Park [in New York City]. You imagine the trees having buds that are sprouting—pagsibol.

That’s what I think about when I visualize spring. I also realized that spring means growth, and growth is often uncomfortable. You can’t heal if you don’t expose your wound. You can’t heal what you don’t acknowledge [emotionally], so I felt like this would be the most honest spring album.”

Moira admitted that the album has gone through a lot of changes since she started writing it in April 2022. “It looks a lot different now. It was supposed to come out way earlier, but I feel like you can’t force a bud to bloom, and in the same manner, I feel like this album is growing with me. I’m very excited about it. I think that of all the albums I’ve ever written, this will be the most honest one yet.” INQ
