Heart Evangelista’s mom publicly shows support for actress’ marriage: ‘Chiz allows her to grow’
Heart Evangelista’s mother Cecilia Ongpauco made it clear years ago that she did not want her daughter to be in a relationship with politician Chiz Escudero, but she has finally publicly shown support for the marriage for the first time.
“You’re fine, you’re happy,” Ongpauco said after Evangelista asked for marriage advice in her YouTube vlog on Monday, June 21.
Escudero was then brought on set by Evangelista, prompting Ongpauco to tell the politician what she thinks about her daughter’s marriage.
“You know what I like about your marriage? You allow each other to grow. You don’t stunt her growth,” she told Escudero.
“Full grown ka na. You don’t cramp her style. I think that’s what’s good about their marriage. He allows her to grow, mature on her own,” the mom added.
Article continues after this advertisementAside from Evangelista’s relationship with Escudero, they also talked about parenting and memories from when Evangelista and her sister Camille were kids.
Evangelista and her parents had a very public spat in 2013 over the actress’ relationship with Escudero, whom Ongpauco described at the time as a “manipulative opportunist.” It came to the point that Evangelista’s parents refused to attend the couple’s wedding in 2015, but they reconciled months after the union.
