Morissette has just released her official recording of “Shine” under Star Records in celebration of its 25th anniversary this year.

Written by Trina Belamide, the song was originally sung by Ima Castro and later covered by Regine Velasquez. ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo teamed up with Filipino-American musical director Troy Laureta to give “Shine” a fresh gospel waltz vibe while retaining its overall feel.

FEATURED STORIES

“Shine” was originally a MetroPop entry first recorded by Ima and performed live by Sweet Plantado during the 1996 MetroPop Song Festival held at the Araneta Coliseum, where it won second place.

In 2004, Regine recorded the song for a commercial and has since become part of her usual repertoire. A music video of the cover will be released on May 30 on Morissette’s YouTube channel.
