Madam Auring passes away at 80

MANILA, Philippines — Aurea Erfelo, an actress and a fortune teller popularly known as Madam Auring, has passed away at the age of 80, her grandsons confirmed Friday.

Daryl Simon Pecson announced the news of Madam Auring’s passing on Facebook.

“#RestInPeace my Lola. Few days ago binisita kita, magkausap lang tayo, dinalhan kita ng mga pasalubong at mga pangangailangan mo, lubos ka nagalak,” Daryl wrote.

“Grabe ang pinag daanan mo during your senior years pero you still worked hard for your family (us) I feel sad and happy. Sad kasi I will never see you again, mga wisdom words mo, korni jokes, happy bondings, and pagkurot sa aking pisngi hanggang mamula,” he added.

Madam Auring’s other grandson Mike Pecson likewise mourned the death of their grandmother on Facebook.

“Our Family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again. There are no goodbyes for us lola. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart. Ibati mo nalang kami kay mama pag nakita mo sya,” Mike wrote.

His post was accompanied by a photo of Madam Auring with the words “rest in peace.”

The family has yet to disclose the reason behind the fortune teller’s passing.

Madam Auring shot to fame when she supposedly predicted that Spanish actress Amparo Muñoz would win Miss Universe 1974. She was also said to have predicted the victory of Muhammad Ali against Joe Frazier in “Thrilla in Manila.”
