ABBA to release five new tracks in 2021

Björn Ulvaeus of the Swedish pop group ABBA revealed that they would be dropping five new songs next year.
Ulvaeus spoke about the upcoming tunes during a talk with Geoff Lloyd, co-host of the “Reasons to Be Cheerful” podcast. Lloyd first mentioned his chat with the Swedish artist on his Twitter page on July 14 after posting a screenshot of him and Ulvaeus in a video call.

Following his post, a fan asked if Lloyd spoke to Ulvaeus about the new tunes. The group earlier said in a statement last February that they had already recorded two fresh tracks titled “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down.”

Lloyd later spoke further about his interview with Ulvaeus on the “Reasons to Be Cheerful” podcast episode titled “CUTTING ZUCK’S BUCKS: can an ad boycott changedl Facebook?” One account dedicated to the group’s new songs posted a snippet from the episode on Facebook last Tuesday, July 21.
“They’ve recorded five new songs. They should have been out at the end of last year… Because of technical difficulties and the pandemic, it’s delayed things,” Lloyd said of ABBA.

However, Ulvaeus promised the host that the group will indeed be releasing fresh music next year. Lloyd also noted that Ulvaeus has been quarantining in the Stockholm archipelago amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides Ulvaeus, ABBA members include Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog. They released their first album “Ring Ring” in 1973 as Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid before officially changing their group name to ABBA.
They put out their last studio album titled “The Visitors” in 1981. Some of ABBA’s most famous hits include “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia” and “Waterloo.” /ra
