Kim Kardashian urges brands to work with Black models

Kim Kardashian is encouraging businesses to hire Black models after she worked with them on her own makeup line.

The 39-year-old expressed that her team had the “privilege of photographing the most gorgeous [B]lack models” since she launched KKW Beauty three years ago.

“I’m so grateful for their creative collaborations and I encourage other brands to book these incredible women for jobs in the future,” she said on her Twitter page earlier today, July 8.

Kardashian then posted photos of more than 30 Black female models while mentioning their names and their respective agencies.

While many of her fans praised her for promoting the Black models, one person (@moses_nyagota) criticized her use of the word “Black” when describing the women.

“[DON’T] DEFINE PEOPLE WITH [COLOR],” he said.

However, another Twitter user (@RiahRARELYhere) quickly responded and stressed the importance of Kardashian noting that they were Black models.

“[I’m] sorry but BLACK is important. Just saying ‘models’ in America will get you white,” she said. “She did right. Go on somewhere.”

Prior to her post, Kardashian’s brand previously showed its support for Black people on Juneteenth last month. The holiday is celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.
