Allan K saddened by closure of comedy bars due to COVID-19 pandemic
MANILA, Philippines — Comedian Allan K was saddened by the closure of his comedy bars Klownz and Zirkoh due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the comedian thanked those who supported the Klownz Comedy Bar in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

The Klownz Comedy Bar opened in 2002, according to the comedian.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat nang naging bahagi ng Klownz comedy bar. Sa mga tumangkilik, nakisaya, nakitawa at sinamahan kami sa loob ng 18 years, salamat ng marami,” he said.

Article continues after this advertisementIn a report by the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Allan K was said to file for bankruptcy and close down Klownz as well as Zirkoh, which is located in Tomas Morato.
Article continues after this advertisementAllan K, along with the general manager of Zirkoh and Klownz Lito Alejandria, already broke the bad news to its employees, according to the PEP report.
Many businesses have temporarily closed down operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Labor and Employment said that more than 3,000 business establishments were reported to temporarily cease operations, leading to the displacement of 100,000 workers.
Currently, the Philippines has 40,336 COVID-19 cases, with 11,073 recoveries and 1,280 fatalities.
