Singer and actor Ogie Alcasid is letting go of a large chunk of his impressive toy collection in an effort to raise funds for COVID-19 mass testing in the country.

Alcasid’s collection, which he built up for over two decades, will be donated to Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis’ “Shop and Share” project, which raises money for testing kits.

“Been collecting these for over 24 years. Time to let go of most toys so someone else may take care of them and at the same time people will be tested for Covid,” he said on Instagram yesterday, May 22.

Due to the lack of mass testing in the country, Locsin and Curtis recently revived the “Shop and Share” project, which they originally launched in 2009 to help Typhoon Ondoy victims.

The initiative calls on celebrities and artists to donate personal items, which will then be auctioned off.

The money raised will be used “to purchase test kits and allow testing opportunities for the poorer sectors in the hopes of helping out in the efforts to provide mass testing in the country.”  /ra
