Learn the basics of stand-up comedy at home

We can find comedy in every situation, even in wearing a mask, said stand-up comedian-writer Alex Calleja.
“You can finally confirm if you have bad breath or not,” Alex said about using masks, which is a norm these days as a way to avoid getting infected with the new coronavirus disease.
“You don’t need lipstick, just focus on the eyes,” he quipped. “You can answer back to your wife without her noticing it. Also, you will discover that you look better wearing a mask.”
Every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting on April 25, Alex will be holding an online stand-up comedy workshop where you can “learn the basics of stand-up comedy, effectively use humor at work and gain confidence to speak publicly.”
Titled “Humor Me,” Alex said joining this workshop (for a fee of P2,000), especially during these difficult times, would “make life easier for you … Since you’re staying home, anyway, you might as well be productive. Who knows, maybe you have that comedian inside of you,” he pointed out. “Instead of looking at everything serious or gloomy, find comedy in all situations. Instead of doing ‘TikTok,’ do something more creative.” (To register, email [email protected].)
Alex said it was now time for show biz celebrities to “give back to society. Make our fellow Pinoys happy, especially the front-liners,” he added. “This is our ‘ambag’ to society—online shows are the new norm in quarantine.
