2076Kolektib fundraiser fields films that reflect plight of the ‘oppressed, marginalized and dispossessed’

2076Kolektib, a group of filmmakers headed by Jay Altarejos, is releasing a series, titled “Mga Yugto ng Pagkamulat,” which is inspired by their unreleased film “Walang Kasarian ang Digmaang Bayan” and Altarejos’ 2014 Cinemalaya feature-length film “Kasal.”
The group aims to gather funds for its displaced film workers and create more content “that reflects the truth of the oppressed, the marginalized and the dispossessed,” Altarejos pointed out. “We persevere to frame our narratives closest to the truth of the masses; because the films of 2076Kolektib are stories of the masses, for the masses.”
“Mga Yugto ng Pagkamulat” is a series that follows Paolo (Oliver Aquino) and how he tries to make peace with his past relationships with Sherwin (Arnold Reyes) and Sandino (Sandino Martin), while navigating the horrors of the current social and political situations.
Paolo’s journey with the people awakens his consciousness to fight with and for the people against the Duterte regime.
The series is just one of the contents that have been rolled out online, via 2076Kolektib’s online channel 420P, beginning April 20, at 4:20 p.m.
The program lineup is as follows: “Mga Yugto ng Pagkamulat” is featured every Wednesday, while the online workshop/talk “about filmmaking and life” by Altarejos, titled “Buhay/Pelicula/Fantasya/Realidad,” is on every Thursday.
Then, there’s “Siklo,” a love story bonded by music but marred by violence, starring Oliver Aquino and Elora Españo. It is the featured film in the series every Friday.
Every Sunday, Altarejos goes live with his guests to talk about current issues and concerns, while every Tuesday is “PaSine2020,” which features films by Altarejos and other filmmakers.
