Angel Locsin to set up sleeping tents near hospitals for health workers, calls for spare beds
While health workers are working round the clock amid the COVID-19 pandemic, actress Angel Locsin, together with fiance Neil Arce and a local government, is preparing to set up sleeping quarters for these workers in hospitals’ premises to ease their burden of having to travel to work from their homes.
For this project, the actress called for donations of foldable beds and beddings from her friends from the industry, via her Instagram post yesterday, March 20.
The actress added that donations of bottled waters are also welcome.
“I, understand that life is hard right now, so we’ll refrain from asking you for financial donations,” she said. “Instead, we would like to ask you for stuff that you already have.”
The celebrity philanthropist noted how these frontliners have been suffering due to the suspension of public transportation brought about by the enhanced community quarantine.

Lastly, the actress assured her fellow Filipinos that they will get through this together.
“We acknowledge that this is a challenging time for everyone, but we also know that we, Filipinos, are strong [and] resilient, especially when united,” she said. “We made it through Ondoy, Yolanda, [Mount] Pinatubo and Taal [Volcano] eruption, and we will surely overcome this as a nation.”
Aside from helping the health workers by providing them sleeping tents, Locsin has expressed her desire to provide more face masks and personal protective equipment to these frontliners as well. She also appealed for financial aid of workers affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
Other celebrities have similarly helped their countrymen during this worldwide crisis, including Bela Padilla, Maine Mendoza, Juan Miguel Severo, and Pokwang. /ra
