Martin Nievera to be ‘ninong’ at KZ Tandingan, TJ Monterde’s wedding

Singer Martin Nievera is set to be one of KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde’s godparents at their upcoming wedding. The couple got engaged on Dec. 30 during Monterde’s birthday celebration.
Nievera accepted the special role when he surprised the two singers during their guesting on “Magandang Buhay” last Wednesday, Jan. 8, as seen in a clip posted on the show’s YouTube channel on the same day.
During the program, host Melai Contiveros first asked Tandingan and Monterde why they were supposedly going to visit Nievera last Sunday, Jan. 5, when he was on the noontime variety show “Asap Natin ‘To.”
Tandingan was surprised to find out that Contiveros knew about their supposed visit, but later explained that she would always drop by Nievera’s dressing room whenever he would be on the said show.
She then whispered something to Nievera, which she later shared on the program with the audience, host Karla Estrada and guest host Dimples Romana.
“Pwede ka po ba namin maging ninong?” Tandingan asked Nievera.
The veteran singer did not hesitate and immediately accepted the offer.
“I would be honored,” he added.
Tandingan was then brought to tears as she explained why she and Monterde asked Nievera to be one of their godparents at their wedding.
“Si Sir Martin talaga yung isa sa mga tao na sobrang ino-honor namin ang mga sinasabi niya,” she said.
(Sir Martin is really one of the people whose advice we really honor.)
“He always means well,” Tandingan added. “Kapag may mga nagagawa kaming dapat i-correct, sinasabi niya talaga.”
(If we do something that needs to be corrected, he really tells us.)
She even pointed out that Nievera would always find a way to encourage them whenever they would face problems. Meanwhile, Nievera gave some advice to the couple in light of their upcoming wedding.
“It’s not the wedding. It’s the marriage,” he told them. “You really have to take care of the marriage. And you have to take care of your careers.”
“Kailangan ikaw ang number one fan niya and ikaw ang number one fan niya,” Nievera added.
