Celebs’ Holy Week reflections, Part 2

/ 07:10 PM April 03, 2012

“Semana Santa” is a time to distance oneself from the show biz circus. Celebs are often too busy savoring the smell of success to find time to smell the flowers. Let’s shut out all the noise so we may hear God’s voice clearly. This week, the spotlight is not on any of us but on the real superstar: Jesus Christ.

LORNA TOLENTINO: My family and I will spend Holy Week in the farm. I will thank the Lord for all His blessings and reflect upon his sacrifice to save us. I will keep in mind my favorite Bible verse, 1 Peter 5-7: “Give all your worries and cares to God for He cares about you.”

CESAR MONTANO: I will be on a liquid diet this Holy Week. I will feed on the Word of God and focus on the entire Book of John. Last Monday, Geneva Cruz and I sang for cancer patients at the PGH.

JOHN ARCILLA: May the Filipino people realize that self-sacrifice will bring more graces to this nation. May everyone find a real cause to serve our country. May everyone in position and authority follow the example of Christ in the name of service, commitment and sacrifice rather than prioritizing luxury and convenience and their pockets. And may everyone pray for an impeachment trial result that will benefit the whole nation.

FEATURED STORIES

SUNSHINE CRUZ: My family and I have bountiful blessings. No amount of thanks to our Lord will suffice. This Lent, my small sacrifice is no solid food until Easter Sunday. No vacation or leisure time. I will read the Bible with my family and spend Holy Week quietly at home reflecting on God’s promises.

SUZI ENTRATA-ABRERA: I will reflect on how to be a better wife, mother and person. Also how I can better my relationship with God. I was raised a Catholic and yet I feel I do not worship God enough. I will try to find a way to feel closer to Him this Holy Week.

KARYLLE: Time to reflect on the importance of interpersonal relationships, real connections with family and friends, and people we encounter in our lives.

JOEY GENEROSO (Side A):  The Lenten season is a good time to reflect on my blessings, especially my God-given talent. I pray that my colleagues continue to grow in their craft and appreciate the Creator by being enthusiastic with their music.

MARK BAUTISTA: I will reflect on how to make my 9th year in show biz worthwhile and remarkable. Pag umabot ako ng 10th year, magpapa-fiesta ako!

JESTONI ALARCON: Reflection should not be limited to Holy Week. I do it everyday when I wake up. I never fail to thank the Lord for all His blessings. I will keep praying for success in everything I undertake, for safety on our trips, for a long and peaceful life and for good health. I will read the Daily Bread and ask forgiveness for whatever sins I may have done of which I was not aware.

Easter laughter

After the mood of serenity this Holy Week, let’s welcome Easter with nonstop laughter by going to see “Moron 5 and The Crying Lady” (opens April 7). Top-billed by Marvin Agustin, Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, DJ Durano, Martin Escudero, and John Sweet Lapus. The five hunks get together for the first time in a movie to play half-witted  friends who land in jail, wrongly convicted of murder. John reprises Sharon Cuneta’s role in the movie “The Crying Ladies.” The most hilarious scene sees the five actors escape from prison disguised as Madame Auring, BB Gandanghari, a taho vendor, an Indian loan shark and a graying driver. Way to go, Moron!
