Jhong Hilario ‘killed’ in ‘Probinsyano’ ahead of campaign period

MANILA, Philippines — Actor-host Jhong Hilario’s character has died in ABS-CBN’s action drama series “Ang Probinsyano” ahead of the start of the campaign period for local candidates.

Hilario’s character, Homer aka Alakdan, died during the show’s episode on Wednesday night, Mar. 27. His character was shot in the head by Coco Martin’s character Cardo.

The campaign period for local candidates will kick off on Friday, Mar. 29.

Hilario is eyeing re-election as councilor in Makati City in the elections in May.

According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), appearances in non-news programs would be considered advertising time.

Meanwhile, Hilario expressed thanks to supporters in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagmahal at tumangkilik kay ‘ALAKDAN,’” Hilario wrote.

Other casts of the primetime teleserye like Mark Lapid and Edu Manzano are expected to exit the show. Lapid is vying for a mayoral seat in Porac, Pampanga while Manzano is running for congressman in San Juan City.
