Netizens defend Celine Dion from body shaming

MANILA, Philippines – Body-shaming remarks were hurled at Grammy-winning vocal powerhouse Celine Dion as photos of her having a slimmer figure went viral online.

This left some fans worried about the singer, but some said she was “to

o skinny,” even comparing her figure to that of Mariah Carey’s.

One netizen shared side-by-side photos of Dion and Carey and pointed out that the former is only two years older than the latter.

This Twitter post led other users to defend Dion with one saying, “Celine gave up her career not once, but twice, to help care for the love of her life, the man who she’s loved since the beginning.”

“I don’t care what Celine looks like, her soul is beautiful,” the netizen added.

Another Twitter user said the tweet was unnecessary because the 50-year-old singer had gone through so much.

“She’s an amazing human who’s going through so much. There was absolutely no need to tweet this, knowing she’s exploring herself and letting herself feel more than ever. Negativity won’t win,” the netizen said.

Dion lost her husband and talent manager René Angélil her brother Daniel two days after back in 2016.

One netizen pointed out how looks are not the everything: “Y’all act like looks are the most important thing in the world. She’s beautiful on the inside which makes her beautiful on the outside too.”
