Dennis Trillo recollects thoughts of getting first Best Actor award 14 years ago

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Dennis Trillo looked back on his first award as best actor after he bagged the same recognition 14 years later in the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal 2018.

In an Instagram post on Friday, the actor shared a photo of his Best Actor Award as he reminisced on his first venture in the big screen with the period film “Aishite Imasu 1941,” which was directed by Joel Lamangan.

“Labing apat na taon mula noong ako’y unang nakatanggap ng ganitong parangal, para sa pelikulang Aishite Imasu 1941 directed by Joel Lamangan, na siya ring pinaka una kong pelikulang nagawa sa buong buhay ko,” he wrote.

The said film, which was set during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines in the early 1940s, was an official entry for the MMFF in 2004.

On Thursday night, Trillo bagged the Best Actor Award for his performance in Regal Entertainment’s entry for this year’s MMFF, “One Great Love.”

He then thanked the executives of Regal Entertainment for entrusting him with roles for both “Aishite Imasu 1941” and his recent film “One Great Love.”

“Salamat po Mother Lily at Miss Roselle Monteverde sa pagtitiwala noon pa man, hinding hindi ko po yun makakalimutan,” he said.

He also praised his co-stars in the romantic movie for their professionalism and hard work.

“Taos puso din ang aking pasasalamat kay Miss Kim Chiu, JC de Vera, Marlo Mortel at Miles Ocampo lahat ay magagaling at seryoso sa trabaho, mapalad at proud akong nakagawa ng proyekto kasama kayo,” he added.

Trillo also expressed appreciation toward “One Great Love” director Eric Quizon.
