Pokwang poses a challenge to Christmas carolers

Christmas carolers may need to up their game this time around as comedian Pokwang has a challenge waiting for them.
Pokwang took to social media recently where she dared carolers to sing ABS-CBN’s 16th Christmas station ID “Family is Love”, promising a prize of P3,000.
“Sa mga magkakaroling sa bahay, kapag ‘Family is Love’ ang kinanta nyo at maganda at maayos meron kayong 3k,” she wrote on Instagram today, Dec. 24.
(To all carolers going to our house, if you sing “Family is Love” and you do it beautifully and well, you get P3,000.)

“Family is Love”, written by Robert Labayen and Lloyd Oliver Corpuz, was released last November and brought to life by almost 400 Kapamilya artists who sang it. Apart from the network’s powerhouse singers and biggest stars, the Christmas station ID also featured the University of Santo Tomas (UST) singers, the AFP Chorale, the Ramon Magsaysay School Choir and Koro Bangkal Magbikin.
Pokwang’s challenge is nothing short of demanding, as she bared the conditions involved. As per her post, those who can hit Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez’s high notes would get a whopping P10,000.
“Kapag naabot at nalampasan pa yung part ni song bird, meron kayong 10k!!!” she said. “Hala sige ensayo na!!!”
(If you reach or go beyond the high notes of the Songbird, you get P10,000! Go ahead, rehearse now!)
It almost seems absurd if not impossible to surpass the likes of Velasquez, but Pokwang’s challenge did not end there. A prize of P50,000 also awaits whoever can sing the voices of the artists (all 300+ of them!) who performed for the station ID.
“Hala sya o keri nyo ba? 50k kapag mag isa kalang pero napag sama sama mo 300 na Kapamilya artist sa boses mo,” she said in jest. “Ready? Laban? Ssiiiinnnggggg….. Merry Christmas every one!!!”
(Can you do it? You get P50,000 if you do it all on your own, if you can combine all 300 voices of the Kapamilya artists in your voice. Ready? Fight? Sing! Merry Christmas everyone!)
