The event—which is spearheaded by Team Royale Trails, Trail Teams Philippines and 4×4 Expedition PH—will gather 15 drivers (and codrivers) whose main challenge is to motor all over the archipelago on board an off-road rig.

It’s the ultimate test of endurance, expertise and 4×4 experience. “It will cover 3,000 miles—Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao—in 12 days,” Albert explains. “Off-road vehicles are called rigs. It’s a collaboration of three clubs … the first endeavor of its kind in the country. It’s historic!”

Among the scenic spots in the itinerary are Samar, Surigao, Butuan and Lake Sebu. “Takeoff is on May 15, and it ends May 27,” he relates.

As expected, father and son are looking forward to this unique “bonding” time in the great outdoors. “I’m very excited,” Albert asserts. “I’ve been dreaming and planning this trip for a long time now. I really want to see the beauty of the Philippines via the back roads.”

Needless to say, it’s an adventure of a lifetime.
