Cate Blanchett: ‘Looking sexy doesn’t mean we want to f*ck you’

Cate Blanchett used her platform as a style icon to deliver an important message on clothing and consent.

At the InStyle awards, she described style icons as “women who know how they look is not all of who they are, but just an extension of that.”

“It’s about women who feel free to wear what they want, when they want and how they want to wear it.”

She declared, “We all like looking sexy but it doesn’t mean we want to f*ck you.”

Making reference to a former Trump aide and white supremacist, she stated, “No one says to Steve Bannon, ‘You look like a bag of trash. Do you want me to throw you out?’”

She was also not having sexist comments on the way women dress. “But the comments that get said about what women wear on the red carpet, I mean, if you troll through those trolls on the internet — just don’t.”

Blanchett, 48, is one of the Hollywood personalities who has condemned film executive Harvey Weinstein.

Weinstein has been under fire from actresses and production staff with allegations of sexual assault and rape.

“Any male who’s in a position of authority or power… whether he be a film producer or the President of the United States who thinks it’s his prerogative to sexually intimidate or abuse women that they come into contact with… They need to be held to account,” she said to Entertainment Tonight during the “Thor: Ragnarok” premiere in Los Angeles.
