Original “Terminator” director James Cameron was able to convince his ex-wife, actress Linda Hamilton, to return to the science-fiction franchise.

Cameron told The Hollywood Reporter in a video interview that he and Hamilton have remained friends, as they have a daughter, Josephine.

“I called her up and said: ‘Look, we could rest on our laurels… But, here’s what can be really cool: You can come back and show everybody how it’s done,’” Cameron recalled. “Because … it hasn’t been done a whole lot since the way she did it back in ’91.”

Hamilton, now 61, played beleaguered Sarah Connor, who was hunted by a time-traveling cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) in 1984’s “The Terminator.”

She transformed into a muscular action heroine for 1991’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
