‘Narcos’ star Pedro Pascal fears for safety of show’s cast and crew

When it comes to filming any project, the safety of cast and crew members is always of paramount importance.

The stakes are even higher, especially when dealing with the sensitive subject of real-life drug cartels and narco politics—like the Netflix hit crime-drama series “Narcos.”

The show, which is set to produce its fourth season, was struck by tragedy as location scout Carlos Muñoz Portal was shot dead on the job earlier this month.

The incident sparked security concerns for everyone involved with the show, even prompting Roberto de Jesus Escobar Gaviria—the brother of Pablo Escobar—to suggest that Netflix should employ hitmen.

“Narcos” star Pedro Pascal recently spoke about the events and stressed that the show’s producers should “figure out” a way to secure its staff.

When asked if the show should carry on despite the recent string of events, he told TMZ: “Well they can’t do it if it’s not safe. We are talking about lives,”  adding that Portal’s death was “tragic.”

“If they want to do it they’ll figure it out in a safe way.”

Meanwhile, “Narcos” originally featured the life and times of Pablo Escobar’s Medellin Cartel in the first two seasons, and the succeeding Cali Cartel in the third.
